In 2005, a small group of students created SOURCE as a way to add value to nonprofit organizations and grow professionally as socially-minded leaders. Through the 2005 Kravis Leadership Institute Business Plan Competition, they solidified their vision for the student organization they wanted to create. Ultimately, this organization was intended to serve as a bridge between Claremont McKenna College and the Claremont community, offering students and nonprofit leaders the opportunity to work collaboratively to solve real community challenges. With the initial financial support from the City of Claremont and the Kravis Leadership Institute at CMC, the number of SOURCE teams grew over the next several years. Thanks to these organizations, as well as other generous organizations and individuals, SOURCE has expanded to its current model of seven to ten client partnerships each year.

A SOURCE began using a rotational partnership model, enabling a wider reach into the community and diversifying experiences for the student consultants. In 2014, the Managers created the Associate Consultant Program for new hires to enhance the student experience in SOURCE through training, mentorship, and culture. SOURCE has welcomed more sponsors, consultants, and nonprofit organizations to the team over the last few years in an effort to diversify our perspectives, our work, and our impact. SOURCE grows every year as new consultants solve new problems alongside new nonprofit partners, all while embodying the values of innovation, collaboration, integrity, sustainability, and action that have been the foundations of our organization since the beginning.

Our Sponsors

SOURCE is extremely grateful to our sponsors! annual report

At the end of every academic year, SOURCE publishes an Annual Report that summarizes its work for that year. The report highlights the results of SOURCE's work, but does not fully encompass it — there are some benefits that no number can express.
